The Polar Bear....finished! The show and tell!

I am certain that most of you have been thinking that I fell off of the face of the world into parts unknown.  To a certain extent, that would be true.   I have been pretty busy working on a lot of stuff, and, of course, that is when personal life always seems to get in the way....when you are extremely busy just to slow you down.  I'm pretty sure that our friend Murphy wrote a law on that some place.  But, either way, I finally managed to get the polar bear finished!

So, this is the show and tell for the finished bear that I have been working on.  The sculpting was actually the easy part.  I managed to get through the stages of the project much as I had expected without event.  The part that held me up was the "jewelry ensemble" around his neck.  LOL  He is supposed to be some what "kingly and royal" as he is the "king of bears".  But, I am here to tell you, no matter what "necklace" design I came up with, it just wasn't satisfactory enough.  The main problem is that I am not a jewelry designer and have limited knowledge of doing such things.  Regardless of that, I kept trudging along until I found something that worked.  And, at long last, it was decided to settle on an "ornate metal" feel bordered with round hematite beads...giving way to strength and simplicity.  Which is what I should have stuck with in the first place because that is what my "gut" wanted to do.  Instead, I kept trying to create elaborate pieces.  Shame on me....I know the KISS rule.  I'm sure you do too.  KISS =  Keep It Simple Stupid. LOL  I need to work by that rule more often.

Anyway, I don't want to keep you good folks waiting too much longer.  So, here is the great reveal of the polar bear....the great "Siku"!  Yes...that is his name as chosen by my client.  "Siku"

Detail of fur color for "Siku".  His fur is appears "kissed" by the northern lights!

Detail size reference for "Siku".

"Siku's" underbelly.  Notice the different neck piece.  One of the "many" attempts at beadwork.  LOL

Size reference of "Siku" next to a baseball.
Well, there ya have it folks!  I hope you have enjoyed the creative process for "Siku".   He took me a bit longer than I had initially expected to create him, but  I am very pleased with how he turned out in the end.  The fact is, you simply can not rush creativity!

At any rate, aside from completing "Siku", I have also completed my Halloween witch too.  So, once you have finished up here, why not head on over to the Coven of Crones and check out the new finished piece!  www.covenofcrones.blogspot.com   See ya there!

  2. Awe, Wendy! You are always so sweet. <3 Thank you so much my dear friend! I truly believe that so much of our very own heart and soul goes into every piece we create. I wouldn't be surprised if that "friendly soul" you see is just a wee small part of me....peeking through. <3 I'm so glad you like him. I hope the new owner will like him too once she sees him in person! :-D
