At a snails pace.....

I don't know what it is this year, but I seriously feel as if I am working at a snails pace.  You know how it is, you take 2 steps forward, then 3 steps back and you feel as if you are never getting any where? Yeah, kind of like that!   Maybe it is just the way the world is spinning at the moment.  Or, maybe we can blame it on the eclipses.  LOL  Who knows.   All I know is sometimes I feel like I am beating a dead horse and not getting anything done!

I might be working at a snails pace but I am seeing progress in my work.  One piece is nearing completion, another is about half-way into the process.  That is, I'm almost finished sculpting it, then comes the clothing and other tiny details.   Then, the idea of the next piece is bursting at the seems of my brain wanting to take shape.  Of course, one would think that since I have to ship all of these projects to Philly by the end of April, I would have a lot more to talk about at this point in time.  Apparently I'm in that "dog--squirrel" mode.  Dog sees squirrel and says..."squirrel".  My attention span has been awful lately.  I blame it on the spring fever....and hay fever too.  Darn sinuses.  It's amazing how hard it is to concentrate when you brain is plugged up with sinus problems due to everything blooming at once!

At any rate, I wanted to take a moment to pop in here to give you guys an update AND to say thank you to the new followers.  It's always a pleasure to gain new peeps.  So, thank you!

I had promised pics of the angel piece I had completed back in January.  Admittedly, I was a tad bit lazy on getting the pics done.  In truth, it kind of goes along with the "snails pace" syndrome I seem to be suffering from lately.  :-P    Unfortunately, the pictures are not that great, but, as you all know, these things always look much better in person than they do in their pics.  In the end, all that matters is the fact that the one who commissioned the art is happy with the final piece.  In this case, they LOVED it.  The wings were the devil for me on this piece.  I think I spent a fortune on feathers, only to ruin ALL of the feathers I had purchased because I didn't like the way they looked.  I'm talking about the super nice rooster coque feathers too.  Those really nice silky feathers.....all in the trash.  *sigh*  But, sometimes, this is what it takes in order to finalize a project.  Lots of wasted material only to go in a completely different direction.  Apparently, the angel did not want feather wings and peered down her nose at them every time I stuck them on her back.  :-P   The final result was much more aesthetically pleasing, and the angel was happy.  :-D   She is called, "Guardian of the Flock". I hope you all like her.  :-)

The next thing on the work bench is a project I have been working on probably for a month and a half now.  It's the one that is nearing completion as you might have guessed.  I'm holding off on the final pics until my next post when it is completed.  But for now, you can see a progress pic to tide you over.  This is the gourd that I have been dutifully cowering over for some time.  In this pic, I have been painting with alcohol inks.  The gourd itself is actually taller than it appears in the pic.  It is about 14 inches tall and the total piece measures about 26.5 inches tall.  :-D  So, it's pretty tall which will give you an idea of the amount of work that has gone into it's creation.  I truly can not wait for you all to see the final pics.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you see it.

The other item on my table is a piece I shared on Face Book not too long ago.  It is the head and armature of a pixie boy in the works.  Obviously a bit more work has been done on him since this photo, but he is still far from complete in my opinion.  I just adore his cute little freckled face and lovely blue eyes.  I think once he is finished, he will not last long and will be in his new forever home where ever that might be.
Little pixie boy in the works.
Anyway folks, this is about all I have to share with you at the moment so I hope you like what you see so far.   Stay tuned for further updates to see these completed projects and the next WIPS on the work bench.  In the meantime, Happy Easter to all of you and have a blessed weekend.  Thanks again for following along with me here at The Pixie Knoll!
