I've been pretty busy working on the Halloween art for the Spirits in Sanford show coming up on September 30 and October 1st at the Jeanine Taylor Folk Art Museum in down town Sanford, Florida. I know you guys are itching to see what I have been creating deep down in the depths of my studio, but, I reckon you will have to sit on the edge of your seats a bit longer. I know there are a lot of artist that create one piece at a time then show it to the world, but, I suppose I am one of those whose working style is more like a "production line". I tend to have this crazy working system....sculpt it all first, then paint, afterwards, work on the clothing, etc, all in that process. So I work on a few pieces at a time, then share it all with the world. Every creator has their way I suppose and this happens to be mine. :-P But don't worry, either way, you will get to see them all...just be patient!
At any rate, my main reason for popping in here was I wanted to announce a new venue where I will be displaying my work on a monthly basis. Its the Wine Art Wednesdays at Downtown Lake Mary event. If you are in Central Florida and looking for something to do for a weeknight out, then you should check this out. It happens the first Wednesday night of each month from 5 to 9 pm. in down town Lake Mary off of Lake Mary Blvd and 4th Street. They have a lot of local artisans setting up tents with a nice array of art work ranging from painting, wood working, sculpture work (my work), etc. I even seen a fella out there last night with cigar box instruments! Super cool! Aside from all of the cool art you get to see, you also get live music and food trucks with all sorts of yummies to tickle your taste buds. But, it doesn't stop there! Since it is located right in the down town area, there are a ton of local shops to shop in while you visit too. It's a win-win for the community and the artist alike.
Last night was my first time out there and I have to say, it was a lot of fun and a great little location. My intentions are to be there each month to support this great little event as I think it is something worth while. It would be a shame to see it not be successful because the community doesn't support it. From what I understand, it's been going on there for about 4 years. I'm surprised I have only just learned about it. So, I am doing my part to share with the community what a great little thing they have going on in our own back yards! Anyway, each month, I hope to rotate my work and bring something new every time I am out there. And, of course, with the holidays rolling around, I will add some Holiday themed items as well. You never know what I will be bringing the night of the event.
I would also like to mention that I had a blast watching all the folks walking around catching their Pokemon too. Apparently it's a great park to catchem' all because there were a great deal of folks, young and old alike traipsing along looking for these hidden mysterious creatures. LOL One fella caught himself a Pikachu! Good times had by all, even the Pokemon go players. :-D So if you are in to the game, it could be a good way to catch some of those critters you are missing and take in some food, entertainment and art in one big scoop! Remember....you gotta catchem' all!
At any rate, if you are interested in the monthly events, here is a link to their Face Book page. This is probably the best way to find out more information on the event and whether or not it gets cancelled due to inclement weather. And, as a final thought, I drive just over an hour to participate. If I think it's worth it.....then you should too! So place it on your calendars and come on out and support the event. I'm sure you will have a great time! https://www.facebook.com/wineartwednesdays/?pnref=story
I'll see you there next month! And, don't forget to mark your calendars for the Spirits in Sanford event coming up too!
